Overview
The Lightsock Universal Tube Clamp (TUBECLAMP) is a versatile mounting solution designed for LED tube fixtures of varying diameters. Unlike traditional tube clips that can block light output or leave marks on fixtures, the TUBECLAMP uses clear polycarbonate jaws with soft non-marring grip surfaces to securely hold tubes while minimizing shadows and protecting the fixture.
The transparent jaw design allows portions of the clamp to sit in front of the light source without significantly obstructing output, making it well suited for applications where the mounting hardware may appear within the beam path.
Key Features
- Compatible with a variety of LED tube diameters
- Clear polycarbonate jaws help minimize light obstruction
- Soft non-marring grip surfaces help protect fixture finishes
- Helps prevent tube rotation and slipping
- Integrated 5/8-inch baby pin for mounting to standard grip equipment
- Tool-free adjustment using an oversized tightening knob
Applications
- Astera Titan Tube
- Astera Helios Tube
- Astera Hyperion Tube
- Astera AX1 Pixel Tube
- Other tube-style LED fixtures of similar diameter
Why Clear Jaws Matter
Traditional tube clamps often use opaque plastic or metal components that can cast shadows or block light when positioned near the emitting surface of the fixture. The TUBECLAMP’s clear polycarbonate construction helps reduce this effect, making the clamp less noticeable both physically and photometrically.
This allows greater flexibility when positioning fixtures while maintaining a cleaner look on camera and maximizing usable light output.
Usage Notes
- Designed for tube-style fixtures with varying diameters
- Tightening mechanism allows quick adjustment without tools
- Baby pin interface is compatible with standard grip heads, stands, and mounting accessories
- Ideal for film, television, event, and architectural lighting applications
Important Safety Note
When mounting fixtures overhead, a properly rated secondary safety (such as a safety cable) must always be used. A clamp should never be the sole means of support in overhead applications.
