I admit – we were confused on the branding of this light by Astera. Is it the Triple Par, or the Perfect Par, or simply the AX5? On their website it doesn’t seem clearly defined.
After thinking about it more, both Perfect Par & Triple Par make sense. First, this would be our choice as our utility uplight par. It has beautiful colors, packs a lot of punch, is easy to move around, and an amazing feature set. It’s pretty close to perfect.
But why is it called the Triple Par? Is it the 3 15w RGBWA LEDs? That makes sense. Or is it the utility of the light itself? First it can be completely wireless. You can control it with the AsteraApp or you can use a DMX console broadcasting LumenRadio. As a wireless light you can run completely off of battery for up to 20 hours. Second, it can be a completely wired uplight. Power can be supplied via True1 Powercon, and signal via 5 pin DMX cable. OK that’s two. What makes the trifecta? Simply remove the yoke and now this versatile par becomes a streamlined uplighter. Add one of the two optional covers for either a mirrored or white finish to match any decor.
We are just scratching the surface on this light. The AX5 will allow you to communicate with your less versatile wired lights, wirelessly. Run DMX cable out of your Perfect Par to the first of a chain of wired lights. Now send signal via WDMX/CRMX and your AX5 will transmit info to all of the lights connected to it.
Wait, there’s more. In addition to the True1 Powercon in and out, Astera developed an innovative charging plate. This allows you to very quickly drop your Perfect Pars into their roadcase for charging, aside from a single Powercon, there are no other wires to connect. As users of this light we find it very fast to pack away.
Triple Par could also refer to it’s beam angles. Natively, it’s beam is a tight 13°. Add the included flood filter to widen that to a spherical 32°. If you are lighting walls or other flat surface, add the linear wallwash diffuser for a 46° x 17°. This gives you a wide spread with minimal wasted light where you won’t need it.
There is so much more to say about this light but it’s best for you to see for yourself. Add one to your cart and try it in the field. Believe us you won’t be disapointed.
Oh, one thing to note, this light does not ship with a True1 Powercon. You’ll want to source those when making your purchase.
